The minimalist 2001 design is made of 18 pieces of wood: six pieces of cherry and 12 pieces of maple. The light center wood is hard maple from Indiana and the outside sections are black cherry from Vermont. The color of the maple is palest honey brown and the cherry is a reddish brown. It is approximately 4-1/4" (110 mm) in diameter. The natural woods are finished with clear acrylic over shellac.
